Use the very intuitive (and free) mindmapping tool, Mindmodo, to create a visual outline for your vision of the structure of our final project (wiki for other English teachers). Originally, I was going to have us collaborate on this mindmapping, but each of us has such a unique and interesting vision of what we are doing (and would like to do) that I was thinking that it might be more effective if we were each to present to the class next week our respective visions, discuss, and possibly agree upon some synthesis of a couple or several of our models.
To this end, please post a link to your mindmap of your vision for the project here. I have posted my very rough and preliminary sketch (that will change substantially before class) as a kind of model. I would hope that your picture would be informed not only by the vision of ELA that you had previous to this course, but also by what you have read, experienced and what we have discussed since then (especially in regard to the readings from the past two weeks from NCTE and about the shifting of our field). As you brainstorm, also be thinking about what we can contribute to the field given our unique position as preservice teachers in this course; don't forget that our task is to add something new and helpfulto existing resources that are already "out there."
To find a shareable link to your mindmap:
go to "Share" in the upper righthand corner of the Mindmodo screen;
click on "Share Settings" from the pulldown menu;
in the dialogue box that appears, click on "Change" next to "Private Map";
highlight the radio button next to "Public on Web" (which will share it only with classmates, since the link will be on our private, but shared with each other, Google doc).
then click on "Copy" next to the url that is labeled "Link to view this map" (it will automatically copy to your clipboard;
paste this into our (private to us only) Google doc; and
dont' forget to put your name next to your mindmap's url.
